Bolt Action Pen

I have two at this point.. one that gets beat to crap on the job side and one that wouldn't be out of place in the board room. Nothing but praise. Customer service rocks as well, they replaced a damaged tip when I dropped it off the rod of a elevator at work, they helped me sort out which pen to buy when the first one kept getting jammed up because of the dirt and grime at work (they also sent repair kits every time I ruined the first one I had of a different model). I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about it, the bolt action has held up through the worst conditions and I haven’t had to replace parts due to the environment it’s in. The thing is bullet proof.

So. Here’s the thing. As a lefty, switching the clip to the other side and pairing it with a Uniball UBR-Z-05 is absolutely freakin GOATED and a dream come true.

I can cleanly write confidently and keep the pen in my pocket without fear of accidental engagement or falling out of my pocket thanks to the super strong clip.

Purchased: Standard Bolt Action Pen in Titanium Stonewashed

This is an excellent writing instrument. I mainly use pens to draw with and I use colored pens, some erasable inks and some permanent inks refills. Thus far they all fit. Excuse my add-on finger grip part. It’s just what I do and Big idea design work with that.

short answer is, I like it, but the refill compatibility is not as universal as the Ti Arto EDC. I 3D printed a ring to make more refills work with the pen but that kind of defeats the point of no mod refill compatibility. However, that very satisfying click on the bolt action makes the trade off acceptable. Would I buy it again if I were to lose this one? Probably not, but I do enjoy using it.

This review is for the copper pen, specifically. I chose this variant because of the weight; I really wanted to feel the substance of it in my hand. I'm currently running for Congress in the the United States, so to say I write a lot is a profound understatement. This pen is gorgeous, in design, manufacture, and feel in the hand! Paired with a Pentel Energel insert, it goes everywhere with me and has become my EDC overnight. Now I just need a couple more for my writing desk and strategy table.
