I purchased a bolt action pencil, the auto adjusting pen, the everyday screwdriver, the pocket tool slide, and the mini pry bar. The pen and pencil are now my go-to writing utensils, hanging out in my pockets even now. Both feel more balanced in my hand than the commercial plastic versions. I like the pen's flexibility because it will accept the purple ink cartridges that I use everyday in my job. As an elementary teacher, I write a lot of feedback to my students. :) Sometimes I have to adjust desks -- which is where the screwdriver comes in. Easy to use and versatile, I like that extra bits are provided so I can mix and match the ones that suit my needs. One day last week I forgot to pack a fork for my lunch. Argh! But I had the pocket tool with me. I slid out the camp fork. The slide tool fork is smaller than the camping sporks in my 'adventure kits', so I wondered how effective it would be. None of the shortened camp forks or sporks I have ever tried make eating as comfortable as a normal table fork. I was pleasantly surprised that the slide tool's camp fork was as easy to scoop food up with as it was; I found that the tool body itself served as a food-delivery platform. An added benefit of the fork's small size is that it made me slow down and enjoy my meal instead of simply scarfing it down. ;) The titanium mini pry bar has already come into good use. I live in interior Alaska. This winter we have already had a couple of weeks of -40F temperatures, but generally the temperatures range between -20F and 0F, very consistently, firmly below freezing. To protect my gasoline-run truck from cold starts -- to get it to start at all! -- it is winterized with an oil pan heater and a block heater. A cord end lives below my bumper all-year long. So, every winter morning at work I plug into to the provided electrical and every evening I unplug and head off. This is where the pry bar comes in. Sometimes I cannot tug the cords apart, but the pry bar is small enough to slide in between the plugs and strong enough to lever them away from each other. The mini pry bar has saved me a lot of frustration and effort, for sure! I look forward to seeing how else I can use the tools as the weather changes and my activities do, too, throughout the year.
