Slim Click Black. Tested it against the other big names in Titanium machined pens: Sp_, Tt_, etc.
Refill compatibility—no contest, BiD fits every refill I had on hand, Parker type, Pilot Type, Chinese type. It’s so easy to change refill sizes, even easier than their video makes it look. Twist, righty tighty rule, done… and you can even customize how far out you like your tip to be when writing! I like the angle of the conical refill tip to match the angle of the pen’s nose cone, but you can stick it out further or back it up so barely enough sticks out to write with. (If you have a vertical grip you might like that.) The collet is fantastic at locking every size of tip in place. Every other pen had loose, wobbly fits on some tips.
Grip: on the black DLC smooth finish, I had no slippage. In comparison, a high end sandblasted Uni Z__ wore my fingers out trying to hold on to it, and some of the ribbed and knurled grips are just painfully overkill. BiD’s is just enough.
Weight/balance: BiD’s titanium build is light enough and forward balanced to write for a two hour stretch without cramping. The other boutique Titanium builds were both too long and top heavy.
Click: BID is not quite as silent as they claim, being more of a muffled click. The clicker spring creaks, too. The twist options in some of the others are actually silent, but BiD doesn’t offer a slim twist…yet.
Clip: Not sure what this clip is supposed to clip on to, but you’ll have to use two hands to clip and unclip it. It’s the tightest clip I have ever seen. You won’t be using it on any shirt or jacket pockets! Shredded every folder or notebook cover I tried it on. Its only purpose, as far as I can see, is to keep the pen from rolling.
Well, there you have it. I’m a big fan, of the feel in hand as much as the internal refill sizing. I dislike the look of BiD’s other grip style, which looks more like a shop tool, but the Slim Click is just elegant. I’ve probably just talked myself into getting another one!
