The knife arrived well packaged and undamaged in the original BID box as it's brand new. The build quality is excellent! Looks very minimalist, no markings on it except an M390 engraving on the edge of the blade close to where the framelock engages the blade, near the sharpening choil and a small 'Ti' lettering on the clip. The blade is centered dead nuts. The clip point blade shape is very versatile and can be used for many different cutting tasks. The blade is shaving sharp! The action is silky smooth! The blade opens easily with the thumb studs. The framelock locks up solid, there is no blade play, up/down or side to side. The stonewash finish is well done and the titanium scales look good, like titanium scales. Does not have a lanyard hole which is good cause it doesn't take up handle space or necessitate relocation of the clip. I am not a lanyard guy and it's refreshing that this knife does not have a hole taking up space on the handle. The clip works well, it keeps the knife in your pocket, yet doesn't tear up your pants when pulling it out. It's a lightweight knife. Love the handle to blade ratio! I can get a full four finger grip on the handle and I wear an X-large glove. The jimping on the spine of the blade is effective when using the blade to do some detail type work like whittling or cutting materials where you need to grip the knife so you can perform those tasks. I can carry this knife anywhere where I live without running afoul of the law. I carry this knife to the office, then take it out and use it without causing alarm to non-knife people. In fact people have made favorable comments about it's appearance and asked where I bought it. It's definitely a gentlemens knife and it carries well in a suit pocket or in your pants with a deep carry clip which is inset into the back of the handle. There is a piece which holds the clip which is screwed into the back end of the handle. You can turn the piece for either left or right hand carry. Mine fits into my fifth pocket. It's minimalist, but classy and very functional! This is just a well made knife! A very good purchase!
With everything I look for quality and simplicity and this knife has it all. Silky smooth action, a great blade steel that is hair popping sharp, a perfect edc size, great stonewashed titanium and an attractive design.
I've have enjoyed carrying the Overlook! It is significantly smaller than the PK II. But it's still mighty! Rapid flick open with the thumb studs! Razor sharp slicer! Quick and easy, one handed close. Small footprint. M390! Titanium handles! Perfect little and light carry!
I picked up the Big Idea Design Overlook on the very first day of Blade Show, and since that moment, it’s been a permanent resident in my pocket — no exaggeration. This isn’t just another pocket knife; it’s a titanium whisper that says, “I’m built for everything, but I’m not here to show off about it.”
The action? Buttery. The lines? Clean. The fit and finish? Classic BID perfection. The Overlook somehow balances minimalist elegance with rugged functionality, like a gentleman who secretly knows how to survive in the wild. Every detail, from the sculpted clip to the stonewashed finish, speaks of quiet confidence. It’s not trying to be flashy — it’s trying to be indispensable, and it succeeds.
What really sells it for me, though, is the way it disappears in the pocket until the moment you need it. Whether I’m slicing open mail, trimming paracord, or just fidgeting absentmindedly while stuck in a meeting, the Overlook is my go-to. No fluff. No nonsense. Just pure, distilled EDC joy.
If you’re into overbuilt folders that still manage to be subtle, refined, and ready to work, the Overlook won’t just meet expectations — it’ll sneak past them and quietly raise the bar.
10/10 would blade again.
