Pen collector here…I specialize in fountain pens and...

Pen collector here…I specialize in fountain pens and normally utilize Pelikans and Lamys (and a few Mont Blancs) with Kon Peki (blue) and Aurora (black) inks. Love, love a well balanced pen that writes effortlessly as I'm a technical writer. I've purchased Big Idea's products in the past, included their capped Ti/AL pen but I've found, unless it's a fountain pen, I don't suffer caps well. If I need a gel pen, I need it quickly, thus the Clicker version of this Ti pen.

Pelikans and Lamys (and a few Mont Blancs) with Kon Peki (blue) and
Aurora (black) inks. Love, love a well balanced pen that writes
effortlessly as I’m a technical writer. I’ve purchased Big Idea’s
products in the past, included their capped Ti/AL pen but I’ve found,
unless it’s a fountain pen, I don’t suffer caps well. If I need a gel
pen, I need it quickly, thus the Clicker version of this Ti pen.
Fit and finish on this pen are top notch. I purchased the ‘Raw’
version since Big Idea is one of the few folks that offer that ‘stone
washed’ look. As the other reviewer correctly states, the look is VERY
technical and it’s garnered more than a few compliments.
The fact that it takes so many refills is obviously a plus, since
it’s the refill that will mostly determine the writing experience. I’ve
got mine stoked with a Pentel Energel .7mm in Sky Blue because as you
can see from my choice of Kon Peki, you can tell I love Cerulean color
palettes. But don’t discount the fact that either through fortuitous
luck or great design, this pen’s balance and size is darned near
perfect. I cannot stress that enough. It’s not too big, not too fat,
not too long. For my personal writing style, it’s in that echelon of
.000001% of the pens out there (like the Pelikan Sovereign) that is just
‘perfect’ for my writing style.
I do have two nits…nothing serious. First, this pen should
absolutely come with an owners manual and at least one spare o-ring for
the tip. It’s not the easiest tip to exchange (on and off, to change
out a refill) and some instructions would have been nice. The rubber
o-ring should just be included as a spare because it’s my personal
opinion, in the life of the pen, you’ll go through some. I state that
only because I hold onto pens so long, rubber parts deteriorate, so it’s
important to me.
That said, Chadwick’s service is in the top tier of any company, any
place, I’ve EVER dealt with. Responsive to the hour, he gets back with
you, works with you and maintains stellar communications. I pinged them
to purchase extra o-rings, etc. and he responded within 24 hours and
had the parts shipped equally fast.
Few will need that service though, as this pen is just built like a
tank. I’ll add one last piece that few pick up on in a raw, titanium
pen. Titanium is actually one of the most ‘warm’ tactile metals you can
put next to human skin. It warms almost instantly and the writing
experience from a handheld ‘feel’ is lush in the extreme. Very warm
metal that borderlines on feeling like a leather against ones skin.
Great pen. Superlative service from Big Idea. A fantastic purchase.

I enjoy fine pens and have been using this for about 2 weeks. I changed the refill to a bolder tip; the Uniball Jetstream. It works well and looks great! I'm debating whether or not to hand polish it. The look is very technical. It may give me an excuse to purchase another! I carry it with me everyday. Chadwick has been very helpful and answered all my questions promptly.

Thank you for making another great product!
